Kids are naturally active. It is usually a common sight to spot kids swinging in trees or climbing trees. But as these kids get older, they reduce their rate of being physically active due to increased activities at school.

As a parent, you must play an active role to ensure your child remains physically active because active kids are likely to stay motivated and focused in school. It further contributes to their mental, physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Children need to be active every day to promote healthy growth and body development. Regular exercise ensures stronger muscles and bones, a healthier sleep, weight control, alertness and much more.

How can you keep your children active?

  • Choose the right physical activities that match a child's age. If you have selected a physical activity that overwhelms the kid, he/she might be frustrated and withdraw their enthusiasm for it. Most nursery schools in Wimbledon have appropriate physical activities in their program that matches a child’s need.
  • Give the kids plenty of opportunities to be active. You can enrol them for sports classes or take them to playgrounds.
  • Consult a paediatrician to get advice on introducing physical activities in your child's daily routine. You can also talk to a daycare assistant and explain to them about the sports activities that suit your child.
  • Help the child find a sport that they enjoy. A majority of daycares in Wimbledon have fun activities such as swimming, skating, running, yoga, and much more.
  • Ensure you allocate enough time for physical activities.
  • Provide appropriate resources for training. Your child should have high-quality sports protective gear and safe clothing for their physical activities.
  • Ensure there are plenty of toys for your kids such as balls, jump ropes, and much more. Wimbledon nurseries have a wide range of toys in their stock to keep the kids engaged all day long.
  • Be a role model. Play with your child and show them that you are enjoying the physical activity. Once you are actively involved in sports, the child is likely to follow your footsteps.
  • Do not overdo physical activities. Teach your kids about listening to their bodies. You can start monitoring all their sports activities and regulate all the rigorous ones. If you notice a significant weight drop on your child, start limiting their activity habits. You can consult your child's doctor to get more information about the best physical exercises that'll suit them.
